Interested in Volunteering?
The heart of the Good Beginnings of the Upper Valley program is our
volunteers. Volunteers visit a family two or three hours each week
around the time of a baby's birth and provide personalized home-visits.
These visits typically extend over a three month period, enabling
volunteers to establish a trusting relationship with the family.
Volunteers offer emotional support, answer questions, and provide links
to community resources. Volunteers may also help in other practical
ways - by babysitting, helping with chores, or running errands. Often a
volunteer is simply a reassuring and encouraging presence for an
overwhelmed parent, offering an extra pair of hands and the affirmation
that they are doing well.
Our volunteers include women of all ages and walks of life who can
relate to the amazing and exhausting experience of having a new baby.
Many volunteers hold jobs and serve families after "traditional"
business hours. Good Beginnings staff members provide pre-service
orientation and training, ongoing supervision and training, and support
for volunteers. Please contact
us today if you are interested in learning more about becoming a
volunteer!
